Alkim’s New Project: Cayirhan Underground Sodium Sulphate
Mine
Since
2003, we have been studying on the research and
development works for the production of premium quality
sodium sulphate from our underground glauberite mine at Cayırhan
– Ankara. This mine of Alkim has 190 million tons of
measured glauberite reserves, which is corresponding to 65
million tons of pure sodium sulphate.
Alkim
has reached significant capacities at the lake operations
and to reach larger production volumes, Alkim has decided to
start-up the underground mine operations after long
R&D studies, whereby a specific new technology
will be applied for underground blasting of the glauberite.
The
capacity of the new plant will be 120.000 tpa premium
quality sodium sulphate. We target to start our production
in this new plant at the first quarter
of 2011. The budget for this new investment will be 35 million TL, ( Corresponding to ca.
22 m Usd. ) This
investment will be realised partially by favorable middle
term investment loans, and partly by the own sources.
The
foundations are laid on 23rd June 2010 at the groundbreaking ceremony.
