ALKIM, has commenced to production in the chemical industry as an individual company in the year 1948, Istanbul - Turkey.
1953 is the year when Alkim bought “Sodium Sulphate” mine concessions at Afyon Acigol and began to Sodium Sulphate production.
Alkim is Turkey’s biggest producer of Sodium Sulphate which is an indispensable raw-material for many sectors.
From 1992 on, Alkim has been ranking among the biggest Sodium Sulphate producers of the world.
In order to diversify Alkim’s activities, but also to remain in the production – industry sector as a company philosophy in the year 1996, Alkim has begun to invest for Turkey’s biggest and the most modern production mills of offset and coated paper.
In a very short time period such as two years, 45 million USD evaluated investment has completed and the paper mills started-up in the year 1998. Alkim’s paper mill is located at Izmir – Kemalpasa Organized Industrial Zone with the capacity of
80.000 tons / year.
In order to grow up in a healthy financial structure, Alkim decided to make the IPO in Istanbul Stock Exchange.
Alkim Alkali Kimya A.S. has gone public with the 15 % raising its capital and started to effect transactions on the Istanbul Stock Exchange on the
2nd March 2000.
Alkim Paper Company ( Alkim Kagit Sanayi ve Ticaret A.S. ) a 100 % subsidiary of Alkim Alkali Chemicals has gone public with the 20 % raising its capital and started to transactions on the Istanbul Stock Exchange on the
2nd November 2000. Alkim still owns 80 % of the Paper Company.
Alkim grows with its increasing strength and reputation, and with its 57 years of existence, is one of the very rare and valuable companies in Turkey.
